She was a very spiritual woman and was said to have come from a family heritage of The Old Ways (Folk Magick). Her sons were accomplished musicians, who helped with the finances through their music teaching and playing jobs (mostly jazz). Francesca arrived in the USA on May 21, 1904 with her seven-year-old niece, Isabella Robilotta, whom she helped to raise. They sailed on the ship, Liguria, which departed from Napoli.
